Statement on Johnston’s Decision to Cancel School

Classes and activities are continuing as usual today at Des Moines Public Schools. DMPS is aware of threats made late yesterday, and that the Johnston Community School District decided to cancel classes today. DMPS has been in contact with the Des Moines Police Department, and there are no credible threats or reasons that would cause us to make changes to the school day. Safety is always a top priority, and DMPS will continue to monitor this matter. If anything changes we will respond accordingly, but otherwise today is a normal school day at DMPS.
