McCombs and Weeks Middle Schools to Celebrate Cultures Next Week

Two Des Moines middle schools, McCombs and Weeks, will celebrate diversity next week with special events on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, November 15, Weeks Middle School, 901 SE Park Avenue, will have a Family Cultural Night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. to bring families together to learn about all of the cultures present at the school. Several community organizations also will be on hand to inform families about resources and services available to them.

On Wednesday, November 16, all McCombs Middle School eighth graders will take part in a Cultural Awareness Day from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students will attend sessions to learn about different foods, sports, dance, money, wedding traditions and more from several guest speakers. McCombs is located at 201 County Line Road.
