Learn More About Moore at Informational Meetings on April 13-14
Parents and families have an opportunity to learn “more about Moore” at informational meetings later this month. Moore Elementary School will become Des Moines’ “newest” school when it re-opens in August.
Parents and families are invited to attend one of two sessions: Monday, April 13th from 6:00-7:00 PM or Tuesday, April 14th from 4:00-5:00 PM. Both sessions are at the Franklin Library, 5000 Franklin Avenue in Des Moines.
The meetings will be an opportunity to meeting the school’s new principal, Beth Sloan, and other staff members to learn more about the school, including how to register. In addition, Michelle Anderson-Kunz, International Baccalaureate coordinator, will be on hand to discuss the IB program. When it opens, Moore will begin the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate World School, providing the world-class IB program to more students in northwest Des Moines.
When it re-opens in August, Moore Elementary School will serve students from Beaverdale, Merle Hay and other neighborhoods of northwest Des Moines. The school is undergoing a $6.6 million renovation which includes a new gymnasium, playground, state-of-the-art classrooms, technology and security.
Moore is located at 3725 52nd Street, along Douglas Avenue. For more information about the school, including how to enroll, visit the Moore Elementary School website, or contact Heather Jacobus at heather.jacobus@dmschools.org or 515-242-8426.
