“On STARS Day, our students will be in the field serving the community and shadowing professionals in specific career areas,” said Billy Kirby, Hoover High School Gear Up advisor. “While participating in this service opportunity, students will experience hands-on awareness about specific careers and learn about the needs of others in our community.”
Additional groups of students will host a soccer clinic at Hoover High School for Link Associates Special Olympians and assist TEAM HOME DEPOT at a Hoover neighbor’s house to rebuild her fence and clean up her yard.
A core group of 10 student leaders have been working on a committee to plan this event with three Hoover staff members. These students recruited their peers and have been the lead contacts to the various sites.
