Hip Hop Artist to Visit Meredith Middle School
Meredith Middle School will host hip hop artist Rami Even-Esh, also known as “Kosha Dillz,” on Tuesday, January 24. He will work with the entire seventh grade class teaching them rap and poetry. The schedule is:
Tuesday, January 24
Meredith Middle School
4827 Madison Avenue
7:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. – Workshops
1:00 p.m. – Performance for 7th Grade Assembly
Rami will speak to the students about how hip hop changed his troubled life and then involve all students in a rap performance. Each student will take a role as a rapper, back up dancer, or producer.
“Our school is working toward becoming an International Baccalaureate school, and Rami’s workshops will expose students to fine arts and international-mindedness as well as help them understand the components of literacy, such as point of view and perception,” said Jill Dykstra, seventh grade literacy teacher at Meredith. “Rami’s workshops also will give students a different and valuable perspective as to how to use their lives to present information in a non-fiction format.”
Rami is an up-and-coming rap artist from New Jersey with strong ties to the Jewish community. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Hebrew, which makes his shows interesting and engaging to a diverse audience. Rami’s background and faith factor heavily into his lyrics and music.
