Hillis Elementary Celebrates Bike to School Month
Hillis Elementary School has several events planned to celebrate Bike to School Month in May. This is the fourth year in a row Hillis has organized this annual celebration.

Bike & Walk to School Day & Hillis Gone Wild
A motorcycle group will welcome students at school and busses and daycare vans will allow riders to walk to school from a nearby church.

Celebration on the Hillis Courtyard
Parents, students and staff are encouraged to ride to school and join a celebration with music, breakfast and give-a-ways.
A student committee, the Hillis Tire Biters, helped organize the Bike to School Month events. Other activities include:
• Posters displayed in the building to encourage both staff and students to ride to school more often;
• Weekly announcements by students on topics ranging from why biking is important, bike safety, and why biking is good for your health;
• Kindergarten students will receive a new bike helmet from Blank Children’s Hospital and the Hillis PTO;
• Each Friday during May, students who walk or ride to school receive a wristband to enter into a drawing for prizes.
