DMPS Honored by National Organizations for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is recognizing Des Moines Public Schools for excellence in financial reporting. The honor falls on the heels of the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) recognizing DMPS for excellence in governmental accounting. It’s the seventh year in a row that Iowa’s largest school district has been recognized by both organizations.
GFOA awarded its Certificate of Achievement for the school district’s most recent comprehensive annual financial report. This is the GFOA’s “highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.” The award is made to organizations that demonstrate a “spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story.”
ASBO presented the school district with its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award, also in recognition of the most recent comprehensive annual financial report a few weeks ago. The award “confirms the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.”
