Variety Rolls Out Bikes at King
Thanks to Variety — the Children’s Charity of Iowa, each student at King Elementary who turned in a bike application will receive a brand new bike. On Wednesday, October 5th, 140 bikes along with helmets and locks rolled home with students and families after each student signed a safety sheet about how they will ride their new bikes.
American Equity and Community State Bank employees volunteered their time to build the bikes for children in need. Volunteers worked together to build the easy-to-assemble bikes, and then Bike World completed safety checks on all bikes.
Bikes go hand in hand with being a kid, but for many children in our community, the prospect of owning their own bike is only a dream. Variety helps make that dream a reality by providing bikes, helmets, and locks to children in need throughout Iowa. The bikes directly impact a child and their family by instilling a sense of responsibility and facilitating the simple joy of riding a bike. Our Variety Bikes also help provide recreation and address the importance of exercise and good health. The Kids on the Go! safety program illustrates the significance of wearing a helmet, locking up your bike, and riding cautiously.
