Students involved in the DMPS program Sisters for Success had a special 30 minute meeting with the leading ladies of ‘The Color Purple’ at Des Moines Performing Arts. The event followed a day of workshops and learning about the book. Sisters for Success is aimed at helping young women of color achieve their dreams. The Sisters for Success program exists to increase the number of African American, Asian and Latino young women getting through middle school and graduating both high school and college to move on and positively impact their greater communities.
