On Giving Tuesday, millions of Americans make generous donations to worthy causes of all kinds. We are asking if this year you will consider giving locally and helping teachers and students right here in Des Moines.

“Every request we fulfill is an investment in our educators, their classrooms, and the future of our students.” said Jenna Knox, DMPS Foundation Chair and School Board member, “Your support helps ensure that no teacher’s vision is limited by a lack of resources.”

In addition to opportunities to donate to the Des Moines Public Schools Foundation, individual teachers are posting their innovative ideas on Donor’s Choose, where budding philanthropists can make their gift to a specific project or classroom improvement.

You could also purchase a ticket or a table at the 2025 DMPS Foundation Dinner by Des Moines Public Schools Foundation coming up on Thursday, Feb 13, 2025.

If you would rather give with recognition for an individual, alum, or in honor of a loved one who has passed, donations will advance educational opportunities and enhance the lives of students in DMPS. Cash and in-kind donations are welcome for a variety of ongoing needs. All donors above $500.00 will be recognized on the Des Moines Public Schools website unless marked anonymous.

The Giving Tuesday movement was established to “unleash the power of radical generosity around the world,” according to the official website.

“Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give,” added Knox.

We hope you will consider a gift supporting teachers and students in all areas of their academic, athletic, and cultural pursuits.
