With nearly 5,000 educators and staff, Des Moines Public Schools is a major employer in Iowa. And, according to Forbes, DMPS is also one of the best employers in the state.

The latest Forbes “America’s Best Employers by State” includes DMPS among 30 public bodies and private companies recognized in Iowa. DMPS is one of five school districts or universities to make the list.

“Des Moines Public Schools is honored to be recognized by Forbes as one of the best employers in Iowa,” said Dr Ian Roberts, superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools. “Education is one of the most rewarding and meaningful careers because it allows us to shape the future, inspire young minds, and make a lasting impact in our community every day. The recognition from Forbes reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment for our educators and staff.”

According to Forbes, the list is created by a survey of “more than 160,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 people within the United States. Survey participants were asked how likely they were to recommend their employer on a scale of zero to 10. Respondents were also asked to evaluate employers they’d worked for within the past two years, and organizations they knew within their industry or through friends or family who worked there.” Responses were received from all 50 states and Washington, DC.
