It’s that time of year again and the students of the Broadcasting and Film program at Central Campus have been recognized for their work in film and video productions.
Student films were screened at the following festivals or awards ceremonies in March and April: The Iowa Motion Picture Association Awards; the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival; The National Association of Television Arts and Sciences Student Production Awards recognized by the Upper Midwest Emmy Chapter; and the Film Lounge sponsored by Iowa Public Television.
The nominated films and videos were a mix of short films, music videos, stop-motion animations and commercials.
Students and their films earning recognition were: Sydnie Sanford for The English Assignment; Cade Murphy and Luke Cipale for Lost Myself; Michael Allen for Livin’ the Dream; Geneva Klein for The Masochism Tango; Nicole Embree for Born to Love You; Antonesia Williams, Cade Pahl and Dustin Hagler for Come Explore Central Campus.
As well as being screened, five of the projects received awards:
- Michael Allen and Geneva Klein both received a National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Student Production Award for their respective music videos.
- Nicole Embry received the Golden Eddy from the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival for the Student Freestyle division.
- Antonesia Williams, Cade Pahl and Dustin Hagler received the Silver Eddy from the Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival in the Student Documentary division.
- Cade Murphy, Luke Cipale and Michael Allen received Awards of Distinction at the Iowa Motion Picture Association Awards.
