Welcome to the new online home of Des Moines Public Schools.
The district’s new web site incorporates a much-improved design that is more readable for users. The site is also faster and has improved search capabilities, including a soon-to-be-launched district-wide staff directory.
One other change to the new site is the “quick links.” No longer are these featured only on the home page. Instead, there are now links labeled community, parents, students and staff at the top of every single page of the web site to take visitors to popular pages
The address – dmschools.org – remains the same for the new site, which replaces the previous site launched back in December 2011.
“No matter whether you are registering for school, looking for information on our broad selection of programs, or wondering what’s for lunch tomorrow, I hope you will make good use of our new-and-improved web site and find it helpful in working with DMPS,” said Dr. Thomas Ahart, superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools.
Later in July a “virtual backpack” will be added to the site, providing an online, paperless brochure and flyer distribution system.
“The online presence of Des Moines Public Schools is very important,” added communications director Phil Roeder. “From our new district site to our mobile app to engaging with the public on social media, it all contributes to our success as a district and our relationship with the community.”
