Merrill/Cowles Earns Top 10 Finish at State Mock Trial
The Merrill/Cowles mock trial team finished 9th at this year’s state championship.
The Merrill/Cowles Mock Trial team finished 9th at the 2014 Middle School Mock Trial State Championship.
One hundred and seventy-two teams competed at this year’s state tournament, held in Des Moines on Monday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 18.
Team members are:

- Louise Bequeaith (Cowles)
- Robert Briggs (Merrill)
- Ellery McAlister, (Cowles)
- Rachel McNerney (Merrill)
- Alice Medick (Merrill)
- Nyah Noyes (Cowles)
- Chloe O’Connor (Cowles)
- Jane Romp (Merrill)
In addition to a top 10 finish, team member Louise Bequeaith was named one of 11 outstanding, all-state attorneys in this year’s competition.
The team finished 12th in last year’s tournament, losing only to eventual state champion Urbandale.
The Merrill/Cowles team is coached by Des Moines attorney Christina Thompson and parent Sandy Briggs.
