Brody Proves They Bleed Cardinal Red
The business was blood on Wednesday afternoon at Brody Middle School, and business was good.
When students dismissed there was a bloodmobile parked in the school parking lot, one of seven mobile units operated by LifeServe Blood Center of Iowa. Once things were set up inside there was a steady flow you’d have to say of Brody staff out of the building to donate.
“It was around Halloween, for some strange reason, when our principal (Tom Hoffman) came up with this idea,” said Brody IB Coordinator Timm Pilcher as he lay comfortably bleeding out a pouch of plasma. “I’ve been involved in several blood drives so I said I’d help out and the staff really responded; more than 20 strong.”
They sure did. It was getting crowded inside the truck between the collectors and all sorts – make that types – of donors. Brody parents also signed up to participate.
Look for this to become an annual event at Brody where it probably could have gone without saying that the community bleeds Cardinal red.
