Central student Ankita Chatterjee won first place in the cellular and molecular biology category.

Des Moines Public Schools students qualified a district record 100 entries for the State Science Fair, held on March 28th at Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University, and twenty-three students brought home a total of 33 awards.

Highlighting the haul was Ankita Chatterjee, who won a first place medallion for her project entitled Non-small Cell Lung Carcinoma Detection Through Usage of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms.

Today the Iowa State Science Fair, tomorrow the Nobel Prize. Congratulations to all of the young scientists!
