Running of the Cowles: School Hosts 1st Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk
In February, First Lady Michelle Obama was in Des Moines for the Let’s Move Day rally, talking with students about the importance of exercise and nutrition. In May, Cowles Montessori School is putting those words into action.
On May 5, Cowles hosts its 1st Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk. This event is open not only to Cowles students, staff and families, but to the general public as well.
This is a fun run/walk, not a timed race. The course is a double loop through the Cowles/Windsor Heights neighborhood with two goals in mind: build a wider sense of community and promote health and wellness.
And thanks to the Midwest Dairy Association and their support of the school’s Fuel Up To Play 60 grant, which is helping to make this event possible including free participation for all Cowles students.
100% of the registration fees from the fun run/walk go right back to Cowles to help support things such as after school programs and preschool scholarships.
So, on your mark … get set … REGISTER!
